Dana Cohen
Licensed Optician
A licensed optician at Medford Optical since 1976, Dana Cohen is a graduate of Brandeis University. Over the years, he’s worked closely with some of the area’s top ophthalmologists. In addition, he’s co-owned optical shops in major hospitals throughout the Greater Boston area.
Dana and his team have a reputation as a leading optical shop for those with complex vision needs. Due to our expertise, many regional eye doctors refer patients to Medford Optical.
Dana has been recognized in 20/20 Magazine as a leading optician in the nation.
Chandra Richardson
Licensed Optician
Chandra is a licensed optician who has been a pediatric eyewear specialist in the Boston area for many years. She has worked closely with many highly respected ophthalmologists and optometrists who are world renown. When she’s not at Medford Optical , she enjoys spending time with her children and Barney her Bassett hound puppy!
Dr. Vivian C. Schaefer
Doctor of Optometry
Dr. Schaefer is a community-focused optometrist with more than 13 years of experience and a graduate of The New England College of Optometry. With an international background and a trilingual family (German, French, and English), she brings cultural sensitivity and competency to her practice, creating a welcoming space for patients from all walks of life.
Before opening her practice at Medford Optical, Dr. Schaefer cared for patients in a variety of settings. She worked alongside a corneal specialist at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, served families at Atrius Health, and gained experience in both private practice and larger group practices. These diverse experiences shaped her approach, blending advanced clinical knowledge with a warm, family-friendly style of care.
As a mom of three, Dr. Schaefer understands how important it is for families to feel comfortable and supported when it comes to their vision. She takes the time to listen, answer questions, and explain each step of the exam so patients feel confident and cared for.
Dr. Schaefer and her family are proud to call Medford home and feel grateful to be part of such a vibrant, welcoming community.
